'Israel brutally seized Gaza ship'

Wed Sep 29, 2010 8:44PM

Activists aboard the latest boat trying to break the crippling Israeli blockade of Gaza say Israeli troops seized their vessel violently and treated them brutally.

Yonatan Shapira, a former Israeli Air Force pilot, said Israeli soldiers hit him with a stun gun while he was passively resisting arrest.

"They didn't kill us like they killed other Palestinians and Muslims, but they were very brutal. I got shot with a taser shock gun ... and was brutally treated just like my brother Itamar," Shapira, a member of the Combatants for Peace group, told Reuters on Wednesday.

Vish Vishvanath, a British journalist, also complained about the harsh treatment of Israeli soldiers, saying he was "ambushed" and "almost strip searched" by Israeli commandos and that all his equipment were confiscated.

Israeli military, which had claimed that the Irene was seized peacefully on Tuesday, has yet to comment on the activists' accounts.

Israeli warships surrounded the aid vessel, carrying eight Jewish activists and two British journalists nearly 20 miles (32 kilometers) off the Gaza coast, forcefully diverting it to the Israeli port of Ashdod.

Israel's Gaza boat takeover violent
2010/09/29

Passengers onboard a Jewish aid boat, which was intercepted by Israeli warships en route to the Gaza Strip, refute Israel's claims of non-violent takeover.

On Tuesday, around 10 Israeli warships surrounded the aid vessel Irene nearly 20 miles (32 kilometers) off the Gaza coast, forcefully diverting it to the Israeli port of Ashdod.

Following the incident, Israeli army officials insisted that the takeover was carried out without any use of force, but the civilian activists onboard the vessel begged to differ.

"There are no words to describe what we went through," Israel's Ynet news website quoted passenger Yonatan Shapira as saying.

Shapira was one of the five Israelis aboard the Gaza-bound boat, who was interrogated by the Ashdod police before being released a day later.

A former Israel Air Force pilot, Shapira, said Israeli soldiers had resorted to violence while taking over the boat.

The Israeli army spokesperson "is trying to paint a picture as though the takeover was not violent, but the soldiers' actions were violent and disgusting," protested Shapira, charging he had been tasered by a soldier.

The 82-year-old Reuven Moskowitz, an Israeli man, who was also aboard the vessel, backed Shapira's claim.

"We are people who came with a message of peace and we did not anticipate a burst of violence against us, but the officers acted violently," he said.

Israel military units attack Ramon prisoners, wound 17 Palestinian captives

Israel military units attack Ramon prisoners, wound 17 Palestinian captives
2010/09/20

17 Palestinian captives were reportedly injured in fierce clashes hat happened last night in Ramon prison with the Israeli units of Nahshon and Masada that violently stormed without prior notice their cells and rooms attacking them and smashing their belongings.

Director of Al-Ahrar center for prisoners' studies Fouad Al-Khafsh affirmed that prisoners belongings were destroyed during the clashes.

Khafsh noted that this attack was not the only one that happened this week, but it was preceded by an attack on the prisoners of Hadarim jail.

He added that the administration of Hadarim following its attack on the prisoners transferred some of them to other sections or solitary cells.

The director of the center warned that Israel and its prison authority take advantage of the peace talks with the Palestinian Authority to escalate its repressive acts against Palestinian prisoners and called on human rights organization not to let those unarmed detainees face the Israeli violations against them alone .

The official called for making 25th of this month a day of rage in support of the Palestinian prisoners who would go on hunger strike on the same day.

For their part, Palestinian lawmakers Ahmed Attoun and Mohamed Totah along with former minister of Al-Quds affairs Khaled Abu Arafa strongly denounced the attack that was waged without reason against the Palestinian prisoners in Ramon prison.

In a statement on Monday, they said that this attack was part of a series of aggressive actions taken by Israel against all Palestinian prisoners, especially in Ofer, Shatta and Beersheba prisons.

'Iran on verge of potential US-led war'

Iranian defense forces in a military parade
A top Iranian commander has warned of a potential US-led war against Iran in the near future, insisting on enduring readiness of Iran's defense forces to repel any attack.

Speaking at the fifth conference on the study of Iran's 'sacred defense' files, Deputy Commander of Iran's Armed Forces of the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Gholamali Rashid said that under "current threatening conditions" when the US and Israel are "daily beating on their war drums," it would not be an exaggeration to say that we are on the verge of a potential war in the [near] future.”

Gen. Rashid's remarks came following his description of threats made by the US and Israel against countries of the region after the "suspicious September 11 incident.”

Referring to continued US threats against the Islamic Republic in the past 10 years, he reiterated that Iran's Army and the IRGC are maintaining constant readiness for any given situation.

The IRGC general said one of the signs of threats against the country is the four wars that Israel and the US waged in our region in less than eight years leading to thousands of deaths, millions of homeless and the destruction of infrastructures in Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon and Palestine.

He noted that despite all the death and destruction they have brought to Muslims and Muslim countries while calling Islam and Muslims their number one enemy, they have the nerve to deceitfully talk about human rights. These are the reasons behind their insult against Islam's holy book of Qur'an.

Rashid also added that he does not think that US military commanders would commit such a strategic mistake of an all-out war, "since they are militarily incapable of waging a ground war against Iran.”

He also expressed doubt about a US aerial or missile attack against Iran, adding that they are well-aware of Iran's great deterrence capacity, missile power, and enhanced sea defense potentials.

Christian body urges pastor to 'repent'

Fri, 17 Sep 2010 05:30:47 GMT

Pastor Terry Jones has been urged to repent.
The World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) has asked the Florida pastor who threatened to hold an international "Burn a Qur'an Day" last week to apologize.

The Dove World Outreach Centre Pastor, Terry Jones, said on Thursday that he received a call from the WEA on September 12, in which he was asked to "repent" for promoting the idea of holding that "Burn a Qur'an Day."

Speaking at a news conference held in front of his small church on Thursday, Jones responded by saying: "We have no conviction from God to repent. Therefore, we have no intention and will not repent," the Australian Associated Press reported.

Jones created international outrage after he proposed burning Qur'ans on the anniversary of the September 11 attacks. Backing off later, he said, "We will definitely not burn the Qur'an, no... Not today, not ever."

He criticized the WEA and the church worldwide.

"They have lost their guts to stand up for Christianity. The WEA is an example of what the church has become... a perfect example of the modern day Pharisee," he said.

The WEA reacted to Jones' response in a statement on its website saying it "is saddened by Terry Jones' false representation of the grace and truth of Jesus Christ. An apology would have contributed to reducing unacceptable violence triggered in some parts of the globe by his actions."

The WEA is a global association with its leadership office in Vancouver, Canada, which serves as a network for evangelical organizations and denominations around the world.

zionist Regime worried at turkish yes vote

Zionist regime worried at Turkish yes vote
2010/09/13

An abolsute yes vote from Turkish Muslim people to a general plebiscite on limiting the of authority of atheists and army in the country's constitution has worried the Zionist regime more than any other party concerned as the regime has pinned hope on the Turkish atheist regime following the ouster of its strategic ally in Iran or Pahlavi regime in 1979.

Turkish voters firmly supported the constitutional amendments proposed by the country's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who leads the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP).

Preliminary results from a referendum held on Sunday in Turkey over a government-backed package of constitutional reforms showed that 58.43 percent of voters approved the amendments while 41.56 percent voted against, the state-run Anatolia news agency reported.

The results are seen as a major boost to Erdogan's government ahead of the general election scheduled for mid-2011.

"Turkish people voted on Sunday in favor of changes in the country's constitution. This is a result of our nation's democratic aspirations," CNN Turk quoted Erdogan as telling a crowd of jubilant supporters at his party's office in Istanbul.

The Turkish prime minister went on to say that the result of the referendum sent an important message of democratic maturity to world nations.

He highlighted that September 12 marks a turning point in our Turkey's democracy.

Erdogan said approximately 58 percent of votes counted after Sunday's referendum backed 26 proposed amendments to the constitution, a Press TV correspondent in Istanbul reported.

He called the result a victory for democracy that will put an end to the constitution introduced after the 1980 military coup.

The Turkish government describes the constitutional changes as a "step in the right direction" towards European Union membership. They will also make the military more accountable to civilian courts.

Supreme Leader's Message Condemning Insult to the Holy Quran

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Surely We have revealed the Reminder, and surely We are its Guardian. [The Holy Quran, 15:9]

Dear Iranian nation, Great Islamic Ummah,

The insane, hateful, and disgusting insult to the Holy Quran in the United States which took place under police protection is a bitter and important event which cannot be considered as only an insane move by a number of worthless mercenaries. This is a calculated move by centers which have pursued the policy of Islamophobia and anti-Islamism for many years. And they have fought against Islam and the Holy Quran by using hundreds of methods and thousands of propaganda and operational tools. This is another link in the disgraceful chain that was formed by the treachery of the apostate Salman Rushdie and was continued by the hundreds of anti-Islam Hollywood movies and the move by the wicked Danish caricaturist. These moves have now led to this hateful theatre. Who and what is behind these evil moves?

Analyzing this evil process - which was accompanied during the recent years by criminal operations in Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon, and Pakistan - leaves no doubt about the fact that the process is planned and controlled by the heads of the domineering powers and Zionist think tanks which wield the greatest influence on the US government, its military and security organizations, the British government and some European governments. They are the same people whom independent and truth-seeking research is increasingly pointing the finger to at being the main culprits of the events of September 11. That event provided the criminal then-US President with a pretext to attack Iraq and Afghanistan and he declared a crusade. The same person announced yesterday - according to reports - that this crusade has now become complete with the entry into it of churches.

The purpose of the recent disgusting action is on the one hand to extend opposition against Islam and Muslims to all levels of Christian communities, to put a religious façade on such opposition, and to gain support from religious biases and concerns through the use of churches and priests. On the other hand, they intend to divert the attention of Muslim nations from the issues and developments of the Muslim world and the Middle East by causing them to be enraged and offended by this great offence.

Israel shells martyr1, wound 4 in Gaza

An Israeli army tank is positioned outside the Gaza Strip. The recent victims were targeted by Israeli tank shells and gunfire in the north of the coastal sliver on Tuesday.
At least one Palestinian is reportedly killed and four more injured by Israeli fire in the Gaza Strip two days after the troops claim the lives of three Gazans.

Israeli forces targeted the victims with tank shells and gun fire in the north of Gaza on Tuesday, claiming they were returning an attack by the victims, Israeli newspaper The Jerusalem Post wrote.

A higher number of those wounded could be reported as the medics scramble to access the area.

The incident comes only hours after Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the acting Palestinian Authority (PA) Chief Mahmoud Abbas came out of a second round of renewed direct talks in the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.

PA left the talks in protest at Israel's war on Gaza at the turn of 2009, which killed more than 1,400 Palestinians, most of them civilians and inflicted a damage of $1.6 billion on the enclave's economy. Gaza is far from recovering from the attacks.

On Sunday, the Israeli military killed three people, including a 91-year-old man and his grandson in the town of Beit Hanoun close to the coastal sliver's border with Israel.

The attacks are in violation of a Palestinian demand for Israel's complete withdrawal behind the borders of 1967. The year saw Israeli forces capturing Gaza, the West Bank and the promised capital of any potential Palestinian state, East al-Quds (Jerusalem).

The strip's 1.5 million residents have also been enduring more than three years of an all-out Israeli siege. The blockade has deprived them of food, fuel and other necessities.

'Shourd released over health condition'

Sarah Shourd (L) was released on Tuesday on a bail of $500,000.
Iran's decision to release American national Sarah Shourd was based on humanitarian grounds, Tehran Prosecutor Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi has told Press TV.

Sarah Emily Shourd was released on Tuesday on a bail of $500,000, more than 14 months after she was arrested with two other Americans for illegally entering Iran.

“Based on the reports by her lawyer, our investigators and evidence provided by the government… we decided to take the detainee's health situation into consideration and grant her bail,” Dolatabadi told Press TV on Tuesday.

“Her representatives decided to bail her out… the judge has issued a release order and Ms. Shourd can leave Iran whenever she pleases,” he added.

Shourd, 31, Shane Michael Bauer and Joshua Felix Fattal, both 27, were arrested in July 2009 after illegally crossing the border from the mountains of Iraq's Kurdistan region.

The three Americans were charged with espionage after the Tehran prosecutor found “compelling evidence” that the trio had been cooperating with US intelligence agencies.

Bauer and Fattal will remain in jail and the trio will have to stand trial for espionage.

An Iranian lawmaker has slammed US drone strikes and state-sponsored terrorism in flood-stricken Pakistan, calling for more humanitarian efforts.

"The US attacks on Pakistan are the most inhuman phenomenon occurring in Pakistan," Spokesman for the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Kazem Jalali said Saturday.

"Those who claim to be advocates of human rights and saviors of humanity are not only denying aid to the Pakistanis, but despite the [current] condition, bombing the nation,"
Fars News Agency quoted Jalali.

He urged Iranians to continue assisting humanitarian aid to their southeastern neighbor

"Meanwhile, some terrorists are carrying out their acts of terror with the support of some powers, and this is one of the most heinous and brutal examples of modern savagery," the Iranian lawmaker stressed.

A report by the New America Foundation revealed that since the start of the flooding, which has washed through one-fifth of Pakistan, in August nine US drone attack have been reported.

The drone attacks have increased by six-old since the controversial operations first began in 2004. The strikes, mostly run by the US Central Intelligence Agency, have been criticized for their imprecise targeting which has led to the deaths of many civilians.

The floods have killed more than 1,760 people and affected at least another 17 million.

Earlier on Saturday, the Iranian Red Crescent Society announced plans to set up at least 15 relief and medical camps in Pakistan.

Iranian officials say they have so far dispatched more the 400 tons of medical, food and relief supplies to the country.

Netanyahu: No guarantee peace talks will succeed

Netanyahu: No guarantee peace talks will succeed
2010/09/08

Zionist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that there was no guarantee negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority would succeed.

"I say this is an attempt, because it is not certain that it will succeed. Certainly there are many obstacles, many skeptics and many reasons to doubt, but we must try to reach peace," he said in a new day greeting.

"We are trying in good faith, but not naivety, to reach a peace agreement. Any arrangement between us and the Palestinians will be based on two criteria: security and recognition of Israel as a Jewish state," Netanyahu claimed.

"Security, because no peace will last without a strong anchor of actual security on the ground, not on paper and not as a hazy international commitment," he said. "The second thing is the recognition that Israel is the national state of the Jewish people. "If we are asked to recognize a Palestinian state, it is both natural and appropriate that the Palestinians recognize the state of the Israeli people as a Jewish state."

My Comment : Netanyahoo says he wants !.security 2. recognition of israel

The one who fund war can not ask for security .

the problem of first point is if he was seriouse in preserving security of israel he would stop invading and demolishing and subpressing Palestinians in their own homes , he would remove at least one security check point in west bank or let medicine into Gaza!

the problem of second , is basically is founded on war and its borderes are still unknown to even zionists ! It differs , some belive it most be in 1967 borders , and some belive it must extend to be neighbour with Iran , from Nil to Eufrotes !!!

israel is a American-british colony in mideast , Peace talks are in vain.

Obama endorses Gaza siege
Thu, 09 Sep 2010 19:42:12 GMT
Font size :
An elderly Palestinian woman waits to receive food aid from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) at the refugee camp of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.
The United States President Barack Obama approves of the crippling blockade Israel has imposed on the Gaza Strip under the pretext of security.

During a Tuesday meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Obama said the regional situation was "unsustainable" and called for a narrow blockade on the impoverished coastal sliver, the Associated Press reported.

Israel placed Gaza under the all-out siege in mid-June 2007, claiming it was preventing alleged security hazards posed by the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, which had won democratic elections a year earlier.

The Tel Aviv-imposed restrictions trampled on the group's right to power and found an inflicted more suffering on the rest of the Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip.

The blockade has ever since deprived Gaza's 1.5 million residents of food, fuel and other necessities.

The siege remains in order while the coastal sliver is far from recovering from the full-fledged Israeli war at the turn of 2009, which killed more than 1,400 Palestinians and inflicted a damage of more than USD1.6 billion on its economy.

Sixty-one percent of the Gazans are below the United Nations-defined poverty line, a Press TV's correspondent in the Gaza Strip reported on Tuesday, citing a study by the Palestinian Authority (PA).

"More than 10 percent of Gazans, mostly children, are physically stunted due to malnutrition," he said.

"We are talking about the severe economic situation that the Palestinians (are) facing. Because…there is no industrial zones, no job opportunities," economic analyst, Mohsin Abu Ramadan told Press TV.

He said that the continuation of the siege as well as the Gaza War had "destroyed the infrastructure."

Obama, however, repeated Tel Aviv's so-called concerns, saying that the blockade was required to prevent the alleged flow of arms to Hamas.

The comments also came as Tel Aviv is feared to cause its self-proclaimed lack of "security" to overshadow the Palestinian demands during renewed direct talks with the PA in Washington.

On Thursday, the Palestinian Liberation Organization's (PLO) Executive Committee released a statement, saying, “We will work to seriously be engaged with these negotiations. We refuse any extremist Israeli government positions especially…any disproportionate focus on security."

The US president, though, said that Washington and Tel Aviv were tied by an "unbreakable" bond and that the US would never ask Israel to undermine its security.
