Israeli troops injure dozens of protesters in Beit Ummar

Dozens of Palestinians in the village of Beit Ummar south of Al-Khalil city sustained breathing difficulties Saturday at noon after inhaling tear gas, which Israeli occupation forces (IOF) fired at a weekly march against the Israeli wall and settlement activity.

IOF troops and undercover units arrested eight marchers, including four foreign sympathizers.

Locals identified the detainees as: Hisham Khalil Abu Maria, 20, Hussein Shahda Sulaibi,18, and Zaid Mohammed Iwad, 28, adding that four of the detainees were foreign activists. The IOF soldiers transported them to the Karmi Tsur settlement where they were severely beaten.

In a similar incident, Israeli settlers attacked Palestinians and foreign activists north of the Israeli Susiya settlement south of Al-Khalil.

Eyewitnesses said a group of settlers obstructed Palestinians from working on their land in the Wadi al-Sawad, Al Atriyya, and Um Al Arais regions near the Susiya settlement under protection from IOF soldiers.

Dozens of settlers guarded by the Israeli army assaulted the Palestinians and activists while harvesting farmlands in the same region. They also beat one of the peace activists and totally destroyed the car of another.

IOF troops arrested Sunday morning seven Palestinians throughout the West Bank, claiming that they were “wanted”.

Four Palestinians were detained in villages in Ramallah, and three others near the city of Al-Khalil.

Israeli Army Radio said that the detainees were suspected as accomplices in security activities against Israeli targets. The detainees were not identified. They were transferred to the intelligence offices for questioning.
